Introduction

Maya childI once lived a dream. A dream where things were wonderful and there was love between all. There was not simply the lack of suffering, adversity and privation, but, amazingly, the concept of such things just did not exist. Every day was a new and beautiful day and every being, encounter and experience was as precious as the sun was warm and a smile inviting. The natural beauty and majestic splendor of our natural world rang out around me as though it were supposed to and always would be part of me, and I, part of it. Ultimate serenity and beauty was abound in this dream. The space was peaceful and loving…parts of me which are often troubled were at peace here. It was astounding.

This dream was the world through the eyes of a child. A child who has now grown to see and experience enough to form a simple life's philosophy: giving more than taking in the hopes of doing my part in leaving the world a better place than I found it-for the eyes of our children, that they may experience the dream as we all once did!

We at Naturaleza ("Nature") have formed a not-for-profit organization as a platform to create partnerships with the world's indigenous peoples in an effort to generate means to put freedom of resource back into the hands of whom it belongs-these indigenous peoples. Those who want to live traditionally, simply and sustainably-an example from which we can, and should, learn. They want to preserve their ancestral and cultural lands, their cultural heritage and their traditional way of life unencumbered.

Naturaleza working in BelizeTo be specific, the mission statement of the not-for-profit Naturaleza is to assist in the generation of fresh revenue streams for the continued preservation of our world's natural places and the deep cultural traditions therein. Essentially, we do so by way of the development and assisted implementation of endeavors that are both indigenously and globally sustainable. Mainly, we work side by side with our indigenous partners on initiatives of four varieties: organic and eco-friendly agricultural endeavors, mutually symbiotic educational interactions, marketing development for cultural products, and global health and wellness issues including, biodiversity and culture along with sustainable development and conservation venues-to move to once again become one with our world!! What we have found is that we are learning as much from the indigenous groups with whom we have the pleasure of working, as they are from us. It is truly a remarkable experience and an historical moment as the traditional people of the world and we at Naturaleza form partnerships to put our rich and varied experience and intellect together to effect positive change with regard to our shared vision of sustainable global development and preservation of our world's sacred places and ways.

Please join us in this amazing endeavor! We need everyone to do their part in giving more than taking to leave the world a better place for our children, and theirs.

Many thanks and be well,
