Field Research.
The La Sierra Facility will support the collection of important information on diseases and healthcare needs in the surrounding vicinity. These data
will help inform the development of research, educational, and clinical programming in Belize and elsewhere. They will also form future investigations and activities at La Sierra.
Scientists will enjoy first-rate field laboratory and clinical facilities, comfortable accommodations and living support, and a host of useful opportunities for investigation.
Inquiries that deal with issues such as primary care, occupational and physical therapy, preventative medicine, infectious disease/geographic medicine, traditional healing modalities
such as shamanism, bush healing and herbalism, and education/awareness initiatives are some of the varied activities that we envision becoming part of the La Sierra tradition.
We think La Sierra can facilitate significant insight into major global challenges including global healthcare requirements and conservation issues such as sustainable development
and responsible resources management-we will help to educate and build valuable institutional and human capacity in these areas.
