Naturaleza has launched two exciting projects in the Peruvian Amazon - The Icaro Project and the Mesa Initiative. We and our supporters have an exceptional opportunity to play a key role in the development of a 2,000,000
hectare biological corridor throughout northwest Amazonia in Peru into the neighboring country of Ecuador. Promoted as a long-range strategy for conservation and sustainable use of biodiversity, the proposed corridor will include a complex
of areas with different levels of protection and encompass some of the richest Amazonian forests in terms of plant and animal species.
Many indigenous communities live within the corridor area and an open question for them has been viable economic opportunity within the context of conservation. Most income production from rainforests involves
destruction of biodiversity and resources, i.e. timber operations and forest clearing for ranching and agriculture. Earth cannot repair herself at the rate she is being destroyed. With our diverse intellectual and cultural
resources in the areas of traditional healing, western and environmental medicine, ethnobotany, conservation, and sustainable development Naturaleza is well-positioned to partner with and assist local communities in establishing
culturally relevant and sustainable economic enterprises. We invite you to join us in this incredible journey of love and healing.
